Guys... oh my God.
I need somebody to choke me and tell me it’s not a dream, because if it was, it would be too painful to wake up and find out none of these were real.
OH MY GOD.
I don’t know where to start, because I just read the news moments ago and it singlehandedly blew my shocks off. And I’m waffling over if I still need to break it to you, for the title of this post must have given it away already, but... it’s finally happening!!!!!!! My prayers have been answered. Cho Kyuhyun, the Super Junior’s main vocalist and my most favorite ever, is debuting as a solo!
Thinking about how it must feel like a dream come true to the guy himself—makes my heart melt. Awwie.
Truth be told, it was not a bolt from the blue. Fans have heard rumors about him going solo since many moons ago, but they would then burst into empty lies. It’s like you were being led on. We highly anticipated some solo material every
passing month just to get a false hope. The only solo materials we ever had were original songs he sang for dramas. There have been three
fellow labelmates who have gotten chances before him, and whenever their teaser images
came out, we always foolishly thought they were Kyuhyun. It was pathetic on our side.
I love Suju. I love seeing Kyuhyun being in Suju, singing and breaking records with the members just like he does too. I do not wish for him abandon his groupmates and embark on a singing career of his own. Not at all. I love seeing this big boy happy, ’cause he simply deserves all happiness in the world for his hard working nature, patience, resilience and other good virtues. I want him to do what he wants and aspires to do, and sure thing, one of them is to make music he loves and sing it on stages. And it’s, beyond a shadow of doubt, going to happen real soon!

A rep from SM said Kyuhyun's solo is a sensitive ballad that goes well with autumn. You can expect to see him become a new prince of ballad.

His management company, SM Entertainment, dropped both the news and a set of aesthetically pleasing and enchanting teaser images (top four below) simultaneously on November 6. On the next day, they rolled out another set leading up to his actual debut the following week. All of the images look exquisitely dreamlike and warm, giving off major toasty autumn vibes. Perfect concept just in time for the season! 🍁🍂

My jaw dropped at the quality. I was especially left stunned that SM’s creative director tried on a more simple and delicate take with the aesthetics. Orange, crunchy leaves and thick, cozy jumpers. They didn’t go overboard, but still knew better than to do the bare minimum. Quite honestly, I was a bundle of nerves fearing they would half-ass it and louse up his long-awaited debut promo after the exhiliration built up. Phew.
Inordinately happy now that the people in marketing team started doing their job properly, from putting out back-to-back articles to running ads to hype up his debut and the way they proudly dub him the “Prince of Ballad” through the press. Not to mention, the showcase (or music concert as they called it) that’s gonna be held to celebrate the digital release of his mini album and mark the kick-off of his solo debut era.
To celebrate the release of Kyuhyun's solo album, he will hold a fall music concert "광화문에서" at Yes24 Muv Hall on November 13th.

It was then announced that the mini album’s title would be “At Gwanghwamun.” I don’t know if ‘Gwanghwamun’ has another, you see, sentimental meaning to it, but Gwanghwamun is as a name of the main and largest gate of Gyeongbok Palace in Jongno district in Seoul, South Korea. Woooot! Anyone here has watched the drama Princess Hours? You must be familiar with Gyeongbok Palace. I am bouncing off the walls, it’s getting more exciting! Could it be about a love story that happened at the Gwanghwamun Gate? Ballad songs are mostly about love, aren’t they? ❤
Seems that Kyuhyun’s also got ants in his pants about this whole debut thing. He took to twitter and teased us with snippets of tracks in the album from November 8 through 11. Gosh, I’m so in love with how he sounds in these. Honey is dripping and flowing down smoothly into my ears.

Can’t keep up with how proud I am feeling. He’s such a gifted and hardworking man. He’s deserving of all success and recognition that are coming his way, and honestly, it’s long overdue. Imagine being one of the most vocally talented members in your group, but used to be the least popular member.
This maknae (re: youngest member) has come a long way down a hard and rocky road. Kyuhyun has made it clear in a few occasions that he has passion and love for balladries. Let’s enjoy a little bit reminiscence of his old interview with Bugs Music back in 2010, when he expressed thoughts on solo project for the first time.
