Please don’t read ahead if you don’t like Taylor Swift or her music, because this post is certainly not aiming to fish arguments.

I’m not Taylor Swift’s biggest fan, but I do listen to her songs and claims some of them are my anthems—of sorts. A genius lyricist on top of being generous philanthropist. The woman has earned a steady, loyal fanbase and achieved many milestones over the span of her career: putting out best selling albums back-to-back and placing herself among the richest female entertainers in Hollywood (with estimated net worth of $280), among many. But the taller the tree gets, the stronger the wind blows. She got dragged through hell and back for her personal life, and even for becoming business savvy, which people mistook with greediness.

You need to know how hard I roll my eyes at people belittling those who listen to Taylor Swift. Look, I never judged you for listening to those songs about sex, as well as other questionable choices of songs in your playlist. Your taste is not superior, so sit the fuck down and mind ya own damn business, Carol. I swear some people undermine her songwriting ability just because hers is not their cup of tea, turning a blind eye at public who genuinely like her music because they can relate to it. Same goes to other big, mainstream things, liking them does not make one’s taste suboptimal or trash. Stop making people feel bad for doing what makes them happy.

While on the subject, Taylor Swift, her latest album namely 1989 is gem. It serves bop after bop. I absolutely love I Know Places, Blank Space, Style, Out of the Woods, New Romantics, How You Get the Girl and Wildest Dreams (There I didn’t just wrote down half of the album’s tracklist). Recently, there’s another song off it that I just fell in love with, Clean. When I first listened to it, I still thought it was about a heartbreak--that you finally get clean after parting with a person you care about so much but is toxic for you (?). As the lyrics read:

Just because youre clean dont mean you dont miss it

My initial opinion of it was weak.’ Yes, I thought it was, as compared to the rest of, like I said, bops in the album. That's when I was like, only fifteen seconds into the song. LOL Then once it got to the chorus, I'm positive that was the moment I was sold. I don’t know how to put it to words. It sounds sad and bleak. But as it gets to the chorus, especially when Taylor sings the I think I am finally clean part, that feels like the silver lining has broken through the sides of the dark cloud and yeah, you made it. That must sound odd to you, but I really do have this weird’ feeling about it. And, true, the song has grown onto me now. I love it. A proper song to listen to when you feel angsty, or while you lay in bed staring at your window pane that’s covered by raindrops.

Sorry to break it to you though, our theories are wrong. I said our,’ since it wasn’t just what I thought, but all of us non fans, haters and media did. Contrary to popular opinions, the song has nothing to do with a person off her, quoting Blank Space lyrics, long list of ex lovers. Shame on us. The song is factually about making mistakes and having tough times. Taylor has confirmed it herself through a long speech before singing said song at her 1989 tour. Speaking for myself, every sentence is so deep, meaningful and uplifting. I feel like framing the whole speech and hanging it on my wall right now.

This one:
You are not someone else’s opinion of you. You are not damaged goods because you’ve made mistakes in your life. You are not going nowhere just because you’re not where you wanted to end up yet. It’s inevitable that, at some point, someone is going to be careless and cruel to you. And just want you to remember one thing. You are not the opinion of somebody who doesn’t know you or care about you.
— Taylor Swift

Also this:
You are not someone else’s opinion of you. You are not damaged goods because you’ve made mistakes in your life. You are not going nowhere just because you’re not where you wanted to end up yet.
— Taylor Swift
And definitely, this:
I have learned that pain does make you stronger and walking through a bunch of rainstorms doesn’t make you damaged goods. It makes you clean.
— Taylor Swift

In all seriousness, Taylor, you should consider being a motivator after retiring from the biz. Many, many people would want to hear those words being said to them by people like you. You’ve got all you need to walk down this new career path, which mainly is, an influence.

Soul Soothing

Weheartit

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither while they pass, they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me

Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on across the universe
Thoughts meander like a restless wind
Inside a letter box they  Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world.
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter shades of life are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns
And calls me on and on across the universe

Jai guru deva om
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world
Nothing’s gonna change my world

Jai guru deva

Don't Say Goodbye
September 03, 20110 Comments
My favorite female duo, Davichi, just released their new album recently. One of its tracks titled Don't Say Goodbye had its MV out in the end of last month. It's a song that is basically what the title says, someone desperately trying to hold onto his or her lover and begging to never say the B-word (break up).

Not only is the song heartrendingly good, it also has such a delicate MV starring Minkyung (yes, one of the members) and this guy only-God-knows his name. But then, you can't have a sad song with a happy MV, amirite? So, it's no wonder that this one has an unfortunate tragic ending.

Well, what do you expect? Do check it out and snivel, my peeps.
