This fan account has been circulating in the fandom for years and,
thank God, slowly eroding the “evil maknae” reputation all misguided
fans keep trying to stick to Kyuhyun. I swear these fans always get the
word ‘mischievous’ mixed up with ‘evil’. How can y’all call this
all-around sweetheart, an ‘evil’? That is such an ugly choice of word to
describe him. Smh.
I can bring you a list of other idols with problematic past for
(either intentional or unintentional) fat-shaming or discriminating or looking down on heavier people, including their own fans. Kyuhyun did
not only shut down the fan’s idea of her being too fat to be carried by
him, he also proved his words by insisting to piggyback her. As someone
whom society categorized as ‘fat’ and has been given so much crap for
being so myself, little gestures like these mean so much to us. Mad props to him.
It was a small act, I see. But maybe, if more and more people are like him, the rates of self-harm and suicide attempts will go down considerably. It’s not about ‘fat’ people, it’s about all kind of people. ’Cause when you use one’s biggest insecurity against them, you are the lowest scum there is.
P.S. Just noticed that Eunhyuk (happens to be my second fave in Suju) pulled the fan’s shirt down to cover her underwear that was showing. Aww. Being kind really doesn’t cost you anything. 💞✨
